Every Halloween my husband and I sit on our porch and hand out candy to all of the trick or treaters. And every Halloween I make this warm spiced cider for us to enjoy.
We live in an area where the houses are very (very) close together so we get a lot of traffic. The first year we were in our home we got up and down to answer the door what felt like a hundred times a minute, so we decided sitting outside was the logical thing to do.
It can get pretty chilly out there for 3 or 4 hours straight, so a nice warm drink is the perfect thing to sip on.
Not just for Halloween, this recipe is wonderful for any festive Fall gathering, as you can make one big batch and keep it warm in a crock pot. It is delicious on it’s own or with a little shot of brandy.
While it is cooking on the stove it will fill your home with the most warm and cozy aroma. I have recently recreated the aroma using essential oils so that you can diffuse this glorious scent any time you want.
I always love diffusing a combo of Cinnamon, Clove, and Nutmeg essential oils in Autumn. With the addition of Roman Chamomile’s apple-like aroma, it was just what this blend needed to get the full cider effect.
